School Buses

From the Series Machines at Work

In School Buses, early readers will learn about the parts of a school bus that help keep students safe as they travel to and from school. Vibrant, full-color photos and carefully leveled text will engage emergent readers as they discover the unique features of these machines.

A labeled diagram helps readers identify the parts of a school bus, while a picture glossary reinforces new vocabulary. Children can learn more about school buses online using our safe search engine that provides relevant, age-appropriate websites. School Buses also features reading tips for teachers and parents, a table of contents, and an index.

School Buses is part of Jump!’s Machines at Work series.

Series Made Simple

Aimed at emerging readers, these simple introductions to vehicular uses and working parts each begin with useful suggestions for parents and teachers guiding students. Brief sentences “The robber goes in the back seat. The doors have no handles. The robber can’t get out.” and photographs will appeal to readers. Each book highlights the basics of the various vehicles, such as the siren, warning lights, radio, computer, and safety gear and first-aid kit in the big trunk of the police car. Most of the titles feature men and women. Some adults may not be comfortable discussing the war vehicles and their uses of guns, rockets, and missiles, but these books should have wide appeal to beginning readers.
